Clerk’s Report

• A contractor has been contacted to remove the bamboo.
• A VAT claim of £5,496.61 has been submitted.

Public Participation

• Concerns were raised about vehicles being permanently parked at Pinnel Hole. The issue will be discussed in the July meeting.
• A resident thanked the council for the footpath from Rising Hill to The Green and raised concerns about visual upkeep, estate agent signs, dog fouling, and waste companies using the area outside the village hall as a transfer station.
• The matter will be raised with the Unitary Councillor.

Community Plan

Audit of Assets

Cllr Kitchingman presented an asset audit. A programme for replacing and repairing benches will be presented at the next meeting.

Electricity Resilience

No updates from Cllr Savage.

Lighting Columns

The Clerk will respond confirming Option 1 (replacement).

Community Engagement Meeting

Feedback and future plans will be discussed in the September meeting. Councillors involved will meet to formulate actions.

Cllr Carrington will arrange a date for consultation with The Hill residents regarding the new Community Plan.

Parish Projects

Active Transport

Cllr Calsy attended a meeting with Trudy Harrison in April to investigate routes and funding. A follow-up meeting will be held at the end of June.

The Clerk presented website quotations. The Council asked the Clerk to explore a self-build option.

The group will have a stand at Thwaites Gala on 8 June 2024.

No meetings until after the General Election.

Correspondence

• Letter of resignation from Cllr Murray – Cllr Savage will formulate a response.

Councillor Matters

• Cllr Savage gave apologies for the July meeting.
• Cllr Bates reported that signs had been returned to Ghyll Scaur Quarry. A meeting with Lowther Estates is provisionally arranged for after 9 July 2024.
• Cllr Pogrel reported that two additional residents have raised concerns about parking at Pinnel Hole.
• Cllr Lockwood expressed concerns about long-term empty houses in The Hill.
• Cllr Savage received correspondence regarding the Parish Council using new conference equipment in village halls for meetings. The matter will be placed on the July agenda.
