I moved to the area with my husband in 2008, drawn to the tranquillity of Lady Hall and its proximity to our workplaces. I am now retired, after working as a scientist in the pharmaceutical and nuclear industries and for a very short spell as a secondary school science teacher. When not busy with community activities I am learning piano or Spanish or encouraging vegetables, fruits and flowers in the garden in the company of my four tortoises. You will likely see me out and about on my bicycle, my preferred mode of transport.

I’m one of the Councillors on the Ghyll Scaur fund committee and was involved in the work on the National Park Southern Boundary extension. I was also involved in developing the  Community Plan and continued that work with its revision in 2024/5. I am also involved in the Millom Marsh project with another parish councillor.

I am part of the Millom Without environment group seeking to promote environmental awareness and action in our community. This group works in conjunction with ‘Sustainable Duddon’, a further environment group of which I am a member. These groups undertake litter picking campaigns, planting of trees and wildflowers, and organise events such as the Millom Without Family cycle days.

As a Millom Without parish representative, I am working with a group on an active travel route from the Esk to Barrow. With others, I compile our community newsletter, ‘Out and About’ and run a playgroup in Thwaites Village Hall.  I help to organise the annual Thwaites gala along with other hall events and am a member of a Millom and Broughton Agricultural Show committee.

I value the strong community and splendid natural landscape we have in Millom Without Parish. I am keen that residents and visitors value and enhance these amenities now and in the future. For the wider community, I am concerned that we all take climate change into account in our activities, choices, and plans. I believe the Parish Council can contribute to promoting sustainable living.

Co-opted July 2018. Elected in May 2019.
